how to install:
Just copy this code, then paste it in your script editor and make a shelf button out of it.
This tool is made in order to help animators to visualize past and furture posing.
Inspired from many ghosting tools such as bh_ghost, onionskinrenderer, and even the new ghosting tool in maya 2022.
It was developed for maya 2020, feel free to send me any feedback on it
How to use it:
Select geometries you want to ghost or the group containing geometries, add them with add selected geo
If you want to remove some, just select them on the list then press "removed highlighted geo"
you can remove the whole list with clear list button.
Click on ghost to create a ghost on the current frame.
It will duplicate the geo list and place them in a group named relatively to the current frame and group them under the "GHOSTS" group
This duplicated object will received a unique lambert shader relative to the current frame.
In version 0.1, This shader is set up with driven keys determining color and fading opacity with sliders.
In v0.2 it's acheived via expressions.
SLIDERS ARE NOT REAL TIME.
Click on Ghost from selected driver to make a ghost on each frame where your selection has keyframe.
There is a little issue with the annotation parenting which return a warning but it has no impact on the process.
This tool has been developed by a non-familiar with python person with the collaboration of chat GPT 3.5... there might be some mistakes...

Fix warning issue
make sliders real time
option to display outlines
option to display a real time following ghost

P.S. if you have any trouble with v0.2 expression on shaders you can switch back to v0.1
